The Washington & Jefferson College Pre-Health Alumni Advisory Council is making a Call for Abstracts for presentation at the Dieter-Porter Medical Lecture. The lecture will be held in the Dieter-Porter Life Sciences building Saturday, September 28, 2013, from 9 - 10:45 a.m. as part of Homecoming & Reunion Weekend.
History of the Lecture Series
The Dieter-Porter Medical Lecture series has been presented on the Saturday of Homecoming & Reunion Weekend for the past 27 years. Topics have varied and covered the entire spectrum of health care over the past three decades often highlighting alumni achievement and/or involvement in these areas. This year the Pre-Health Alumni Advisory Council has chosen to develop a program based on research that is presently being performed by both our alumni and undergraduates.
Alumni Abstract Submissions
All alumni of the College are invited to submit an abstract of original research that is currently being performed or recently completed. Abstracts may be on any topic within the health sciences. All abstracts will be reviewed by the council and five will be selected for presentation at the Dieter Porter Lecture. Presentations will be 10 minutes in duration with five minutes for question and answer. Depending on the scope and breadth of submissions, a common theme for the abstracts may be chosen.
Abstract Criteria:
- Abstracts will have a 1000 word limit.
- Abstracts should have a standard format to include: Introduction, Methods/Materials, Results, Conclusion
Deadline for Alumni Submissions: April 15, 2013.
